At Shadow Hills Presbyterian
Preschool, learning is exciting and spontaneous. We present the beginning steps of education in a personal,
loving and non-competitive environment.
We are a well-established preschool with over 40 years of
commitment to children and service to the families of our community.
Our preschool program is designed to
give children the opportunity to experience the joy of learning. We
invite your child to grow and develop in a stimulating and caring
environment.

committed to the well being of your child.
Each has completed the required courses in early childhood
education and has experience in the child-care field. The teachers

Ongoing and open communication with
parents and families is important to us.
We want you to be aware of school events and classroom
activities. There is a
yearly calendar given to each family in September.
Information regarding dates, events, and curriculum is given in
our monthly newsletter. Also,
each class has a Parents Bulletin Board with individual class
information.

The activities offered in the
classroom are designed to develop a love of learning and to prepare your
child for success in school. Through
a play-based curriculum, children learn cognitive skills, language
development, cooperation and self-control.
Dramatic play, free choice time, music, and art encourage
positive social skills and self-expression.
Children are encouraged to make choices and solve their own
social conflict. They are
taught to use words appropriately and to develop necessary negotiating
skills. Consideration of
others is encouraged and modeled by the staff.
A warm Christian atmosphere is a constant at our school.
During outside time, children are
developing all the appropriate motor skills.
It is natural for children to run, climb, jump, spin, etc. and we
provide the opportunity to do just that.
Physical development is a natural process of outside play.
Children learn to understand their abilities and limitations, as
well as cause and effect, and spatial awareness by exploring their
outdoor play area. Water
play, sensory play, easel painting, planting and growing are included in
our outdoor play.
