BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Friends and neighbors gather on the south parking lot to share their love of animals and thank God for the blessing their animal friends have been in their lives.  Each animal is then individually blessed by our pastor.  Free photos are taken of each blessing and our animal friends are presented with a special treat.

In addition to the blessing of each animal, there are also booths representing animal advocacy organizations such as:  West Valley Bird Society, Life 4 Paws, Sunny-Dog Ink, Glendale Humane Society, Pasadena Humane Society, Micro-Chipping, Wildlife Waystation, Seeing Eye Dogs, L.A. City Fire Department, Boxer Rescue.

Our Praise Band provides music for the morning.  Andy’s Famous Hot Dogs and a “Church Lady Bake Sale” provide munchies.   We have also had a pet basket raffle, pet costume contest, dog agility demonstration, pet first aid demonstration.  Each year, there is something very special.

TRUNK-O-TREAT

This annual event has become a neighborhood favorite.  Friends and neighbors decorate the trunks of their cars or the beds of their trucks for Halloween.  Little costumed tricksters have a costume contest, a Halloween parade and play games.  Then, they head for the parking lot for some safe trick-or-treating.  This event generally happens the Sunday prior to Halloween.

MEMORY SCREENING

November is National Memory Screening Month, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.  Our church is one of the sites that provides free confidential memory screening.  The screening is conducted by nursing students from Los Angeles City College
